A Way to Give Back This Holiday Season

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, I'm sure you've seen the blanket donation project we are doing at my school.

I have gotten SO many wonderful, generous donations from family and friends and I'm so thankful for that!

My students are truly seeing the "giving" aspect of Christmas this season. We are learning about the virtue of generosity, and this blanket collection has opened their eyes in such a marvelous way!

If you haven't seen it... I NEED YOUR HELP!

We are donating blankets to the homeless shelters around town. If you or anyone you know has any blankets they would be willing to donate, I would greatly appreciate it!

I can come pick up blankets from anyone who has any to donate :)
Just let me know!!!

Thanks for helping show others the true meaning of Christmas!

Happy Friday friends, hope everyone has a great weekend! Stay Warm!

Xoxo,

M.I.A + December Goals

Friends, I am so sorry I have been M.I.A for a few weeks.

I could make a whole list of excuses and how I've been super busy... but that's life and honestly I've just been slacking!!

So, onto the next part of this post..

December Goals.

(I know what you're thinking.. New Year's Resolutions are right around the corner? well, friends I decided to get a jump start and continue these goals into the new year!!)

1. Keep up with this blog!!!!
I really do enjoy it, and am trying to get the hang of it so bear with me.

2. Budget
Masters, New Car, vacation fund, savings, I could go on and on!

3. Get Healthy
2017 weddings galore... and also to take care of myself :)

4. Read More
I love to read! However, I realized I really, REALLY don't like reading digital versions of books.

5. Be patient.
I have found myself recently getting irritated easily and I want to work on patience in all areas of my life.

There's a whole lot more I could add to this list, but I want to make it attainable and realistic so here are my December Goals!

School Updates: Field Trip Edition

I am very lucky to have a job doing what I love!

I love spending my days filling the minds of children. They brighten my days, and make coming to work everyday so worth it! Since I teach at a super small school, we are able to do some pretty cool stuff! One being, getting to participate in KYA.

KYA is the Kentucky Youth Assembly. It is for middle school students to get a glimpse into the law making process. They get to work together to create a bill, then take that bill to the KYA convention to try to get their bill passed to be a law. It was a great experience for the students!

Our 2016 KYA team.

The students on the steps of the Kentucky State Capitol building in Frankfort.

The students in the courtroom explaining their bill.

Here the students are enjoying themselves at the mixer.

They got the "Best New Delegation" Award out of 60+ schools!!!

KYA 2016 was a success!

Last Friday was Veteran's Day, so we decided to take the 4th-12th grade to the parade downtown. They had a blast! It was a very cool experince and I'm glad I teach at a school that allows us to be flexible for various learning opportunities.

Waiting for the parade to begin.

We were sitting right by a Starbucks so of course the girls had to get a drink. They look very "gossip girl" here with their uniforms, starbucks and sitting on the steps :)

We had so much fun!!! It was the most perfect day for a parade and even more special that we got to honor the many men and women who have served our country and allow us to live in freedom!!

Xoxo,

Liz

P.s. Sorry friends I've totally been slacking on getting my posts up! Trust me, I'll step up my game:)

What's Up Wednesday

Today I'm joining the link up with Shay, Mel, and Sheaffer. The last Wednesday of every month they host What's Up Wednesday!

What I'm Eating This Week

Monday: My Dad brought home by favorite BBQ of all time for my birthday :)
Tuesday: We had dinner with Alex's dad and uncle, we had the BEST chicken enchiladas.
Wednesday:  My Mom is cooking tonight, I'm sure whatever she whips up will be amazing!
Thursday: I'm going to dinner with my collge roomies, dang I miss those girls! We're meeting at Drake's for dinner and drinks!
Friday: I'm going with Alex to his cousin, Nikki's house for pumkin carving and a fire, so we'll bring appetizers and just snack! (If anyone has any easy, yummy app recipes send them my way!)

What I'm Reminiscing About

Monday was my Birthday and since I turned 24 on the 24th it was my "golden" birthday!

I have the BEST family, friends and boyfriend ever! I know I've said that before but y'all, they made me feel like one special girl this weekend!

What I'm Loving

Fall.

I love everything that comes with it! Football and tailgating, fall food (give me all the chili), the colors, the leaves, the cozy clothes, the pumpkin spice everything lattes!

Another thing I'm loving right now is my new Yeti cup I got from my girls Kate and Lauren for my birthday! Then, to make it even better, Kate used this SUPER cool machine to print out the cutest monogram for it!!!

What I've Been Up To

Planning!

Lesson planning, planning my birthday weekend, planning my Halloween costume, helping my girl Kate plan her engagement party!

I love lists, so anytime I am planning something I make a list or three :)

What I'm Dreading

Getting cold outside!

It makes it so much harder to get out of bed in the mornings when it's cold. And then having to bundle up to get into your freezing cold car, not to mention having to scrape the ice from the windsheild.. can it just stay 60 degrees until spring?!

What I'm Working On

My Christmas Lists.

Told y'all I make a lot of lists :) I'm making my shopping list for all my peeps.. as well as my list of what I would love to recieve! I can't even believe I'm thinking about Christmas... wasn't it just summer like yesterday?!

What I'm Excited About

 I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!

Alex and I were invited to go to Disney World with our friends Katelyn and Austin for New Year's Eve!!! I am SOOOO excited! Austin and his family are Disney World fanatics and know all the ins and outs, special spots, and pretty much everything about this magical place, so I'm pumped to be able to go with them !!

What I'm Watching/Reading

Along with all the other great fall things, fall TV rocks as well! I'm watching This Is Us, Grey's Anatomy, Quantico, Notorious, and of course all the Housewives!! I'm anxiously awaiting the return of the new season of Vanderpump Rules!

I got some GREAT book suggestions and thanks to my friend Meagan's recommendation, I bought "The Hand that Feeds You". I am just starting it, so I will report back and tell you what I thought!

Also, I'm reading "Heidi" with my 4th graders. It is such a classic, and they really seem it to be enjoying it!

What I'm Listening To

In my classroom, we listen to Pandora all.day.long. My students love having background music and it actually helps with noise control, so it's a win win in my book :)

Okay, this is super random.. but I've been loving listening to morning radio shows on the way to school! They are funny, and sometimes ridiculous but I can't stop listening! The Kane Show on 98.9 is my jam.

What I'm Wearing

I've been wanting a Kendra Scott necklace for forever, so I was super excited when I opened my gift from Alex and saw it :) It is perfect, he did so good!!! I've worn it everyday since I got it!

Also, I haven't been wearing this.. but I hope to soon! I'm on the hunt for a cute poncho!! I want one that has color but that is also neutral.. Does that even exisit? Maybe this is why I can't find one I love! I think I'll head to the outlet mall one day after school and search for the perfect one :)

 What I'm Doing This Weekend

Friday, Alex's cousin Nikki is having a pumpkin carving, fire pit family get together. I'm looking forward to having a low key Friday night hanging out enjoying fall activities!
Saturday our friends Danielle and Zach are having a big Halloween party out on their farm! I can't wait to share our costume with you guys next week :)

What I'm Looking Forward To Next Month

November.. THANKSGIVING!!!!

Thanksgiving is such a great holiday.. you get to hang with family and eat! What could be better?!

 What's Your Favorite Halloween Memory/Tradition/Picture

Last week I told y'all about how much I love dressing up, that is my favorite part about Halloween but I shared way too many pictures then, so I'll share my Halloween traditions from when I was young instead!

Each year on Halloween, my family would go over to my cousins, Lauren and Christina's to trick-or-treat! My Aunt Ellen made chili and we ate quickly so we could get outside!  Then our Dads would take us around their neighborhood to load up our bags full of candy! *I remember always loving going to one specific house in their neighborhood because they gave out toothbrushes. Hahah... She was a dentist, so she reminded us to brush our teeth after eating all the sugar! * Funny the things you remember! So much fun, I have always loved Halloween!

Have a great Wednesday friends :)

Xoxo,

Randomness

Hi friends!

Sorry, I've been super busy and haven't actually sat down to think about a post... so here goes a bunch of randomness.

Last weekend we spent Friday night cheering on the Cards, who barely got a W. But hey, a win is a win!!

Saturday morning my mom, sister, aunt and cousin all got together to celebrate my Nana's birthday! We met at Highland Morning for a yummy breakfast and great company :) (If you're ever in Louisville, go to Highland Morning, I got the breakfast burrito and it was delicious!)

Later, Saturday I met up with 9 friends to head to the 90's bar crawl on Bardstown Road! It was a BLAST! Everyone dressed in 90's clothes, listened to 90's music and just had an awesome time!

Sunday was a much needed day of cozy, laziness :)

I am super into the new show, "This Is Us".
I've heard people say it reminds them of "Parenthood" and this must be why I'm loving it. Seriously I wanted to be a Braverman while watching Parenthood, that's how much I loved it!

A couple weeks ago I finished the book "The Good Girl" (Thanks Kels) and loved it! I have been trying to find another book since and I just haven't come across anything that looks worth reading. If you have any suggestions, PLEASE let me know!

The Loft is having a sale right now and everything is 50% off! So, if you need a new top or work outfit now is your time to buy!

I think that is all of my randomness for today!

Happy Hump Day!!!

Xoxo,

Liz

Friday Favorites

TGIF Friends!

I'm linking up with Andrea, Erika, and Narci to share some of my Friday Favorites!

ONE

Friday night football.

Tonight my CARDS are playing at home against Duke. They haven't been home since their incredible (20-63) win over Florida State and I am pumped to tailgate watch them!

*Fun fact: I am the only Louisville fan out of my 5 best friends.

UofL/ UK Game two years ago in Lexington. I was a little nervous to wear red there :)

TWO

 Fall.

This about sums it up!

THREE

Yesterday I hit up the outlet mall after school. I knew taking a teaching job less than a mile from a mall would be hard to resist :)

I found the most perfect shirt from Gap.

It is casual, comfy and comes in many great colors! Also it's on sale for just $31.99.
I love these types of tops because they can be paired with vests, jackets, scarves, statement necklaces, etc.

FOUR

I was on the hunt at the beginning of the school year for some good, comfortable shoes. I had seen the brand Tieks all over Pinterest and decided to check them out. I researched and read reviews again and again and just couldn't get past the steep price point.

One day, I walked into my room and I was shocked to see the package on my bed. My Mom had gifted me a pair and I couldn't be happier! My feet are pretty happy too :) They seriously feel like slippers!! If you are looking for a good pair of flats, check these out! They are worth it!! The cute blue detail on the sole is an added bonus!

FIVE

I am cheetah obsessed!

I pulled out my favorite cheetah scarf this morning, it's from Old Navy last year. I found a similar one here. This cheetah clutch would be perfect to dress up a casual outfit! I have been obsessing over these cheetah flats for awhile now! Cheetah print just makes any outfit a bit more exciting :)

Happy Friday Friends.. Have a wonderful weekend!!

Xoxo,

Liz
